Do you love scapes as much as I do?
I'm so crazy about those curly wonders that I wrote my first ever post on this blog about them, 2 years ago! I can never decide if I prefer gazing at them and photographing them for hours on end... or eating them. It's a close tie. I recently decided to try one of my favourite recipes, classic Chinese scallion pancakes, subbing garlic scapes for the scallions. It was delicious and I highly recommend it!
I was going to make a video of this recipe, but it turns out the ultimate Scallion Pancake recipe video already exists! And I cannot possibly top this one. It's one of my all-time favourite cooking videos, produced by Saveur Magazine and featuring the one and the only Martin Yan!! Please watch, learn, and enjoy from the master.

That Saveur video is one of my favourites — it's such a charming series. I'm off to PBS to see your video. I'm already in love with the rhubarb bars you did there.
ReplyDeleteHi Tara, somehow I missed this comment when you first left it. Thanks so much for stopping by :-) I'm so glad you liked the rhubarb bars. Your blog is one of my top favourites out there, so coming from you, I take the compliment to heart! Thank you!!
DeleteWhat a wonderful recipe! I made this tonight (I read it yesterday and I wanted to do it with the spelt flour as you said it was your favorite flavor, so I bought the spelt flour today!). Really amazing! and I like your ingredient proportions are correct. I did not need to add more flour, and dipping sauce was just the right amount.
ReplyDeleteWell thank you! I love hearing back when people make my recipes and I'm so glad you enjoyed the spelt flour version of these :-) But how in the world did you get garlic scapes at this time of year??
